Hi, I'm Sevin, a fourth-year Biochemistry student at McMaster University with a strong passion for science and education. I hope to pursue a career in dentistry, which has motivated me to develop a deep understanding of biology and chemistry. Hi everyone! I'm Sevin, a fourth-year Biochemistry student at McMaster University. I offer tutoring in Chemistry, Biology, and Biochemistry for high school students and first-year university students.
My teaching approach focuses on building a strong understanding of concepts rather than memorization. I believe that when students understand the "why" behind a topic, they become more confident and perform better on assignments, tests, and exams. As a current university student, I understand the challenges that come with science courses and can explain difficult concepts in a clear and approachable way.
A typical lesson begins with identifying areas of difficulty and reviewing key concepts. From there, we work through examples and practice problems together, followed by independent problem-solving to reinforce understanding. I also help students develop effective study habits, exam strategies, and critical thinking skills that can be applied across multiple courses.
What sets me apart is my recent experience successfully completing many of the same courses that my students are taking. I understand common misconceptions, challenging topics, and the study techniques that work best for science courses. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities.
Lessons are available for Grades 9-12 Chemistry and Biology, as well as introductory university courses in Chemistry, Biology, and Biochemistry.
