About Anne

I am a recently retired Elementary School teacher of 23 years. Most of my experience has been in teaching the grades of Kindergarten through Second grade. My last three years of teaching I taught 5th grade. I have a Master's in Reading, a Reading Credential, and a Multiple Subject Credential with CLAD. I have over 20 years of successful experience teaching children how to read. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and pets. I am married and have two adult children. We also have four pets two dogs, and two cats. My hobbies are gardening, walking, and doing mosaics.

About the lesson

My teaching method is to assess what level my students are in their reading development and begin with a multi-pronged approach to help them achieve their goals. Reading is comprised of Five Building Blocks: Phonemic awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency, and Comprehension. After I assess a student, I will then be able to determine what their needs are for reading instruction. I have over 20 years of successful experience teaching children how to read. I have taught students at all levels of reading readiness from non-readers to advanced readers. I enjoy teaching students to learn to read and derive great satisfaction as they progress through the stages of reading
