Hi! My name is Lyliana Celaya. I’m a fluent Spanish speaker, born in the U.S. and raised in Mexico, which has given me a deep understanding of both the language and the culture. I’m currently a university student majoring in Social Work at Arizona State University, where I’ve developed strong communication and leadership skills through my work and academic experiences. As a first-generation college student, I know the value of education and the power of support. I’m passionate about helping others succeed and believe that learning a new language should feel encouraging, not intimidating. My goal is to create a supportive and respectful environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. I have experience helping both English and Spanish speakers, and I’m especially patient with beginners. Whether you're learning Spanish for school, travel, work, or personal growth, I’m here to help you feel confident and capable. About the lesson

As a Spanish tutor, my approach is rooted in patience, cultural relevance, and adapting to each student's unique learning style. Being fluent in both English and Spanish—and having grown up in a bilingual environment—I understand the challenges and rewards of language acquisition from a real-world perspective.

My Teaching Method & Techniques:
I use a communicative approach, focusing on real-life conversations and practical vocabulary, while incorporating grammar and structure in a clear and relatable way. I emphasize listening and speaking early on, helping students build confidence through repetition, role-play, and visual aids. I also tailor my methods depending on the student's goals—whether it's academic success, conversational fluency, or professional communication.

Typical Lesson Plan:
Each lesson starts with a warm-up conversation in Spanish to activate prior knowledge. Then we review key vocabulary or grammar concepts, followed by interactive activities like reading, listening, writing, and speaking exercises. I always end with a quick review and a small assignment or tip to reinforce learning between sessions.

What Sets Me Apart:
What makes me different is my ability to connect with students on a personal level. As a current university student and a first-generation Mexican American, I bring cultural understanding and encouragement, especially for students who may feel overwhelmed or unsure. I create a welcoming and pressure-free learning environment where questions are always welcome and progress is celebrated.
