About Katriel
I am afro-latina, with afro-colombian descent. I currently attend Barry University, it is my last year and I am majoring in Spanish Literature with a minor in Psychology.
Spanish has always been a huge part of my life, it was the first language I was taught. My passion and love frow the language grew when I took a trip to Colombia, South America with my mom where we were emerged in the culture. Listening to spanish-speakers daily, learning how to write and read in spanish as well as picking up on the dialect. It was an amazing life experience and has really help discover myself more and connect to the other half of my family.
I decided to major in Spanish Literature because it was a way in which I could teach others and I have found great passion in all my spanish classes as well as being of great help to students learning the language and wanting to have the possibility to communicate with others all over the world.
To me, it has been a privilege to be fluent in 2 languages and I think anytime is a great time to learn a language or two. Languages are so beautiful and universal and a essential part of human connection and I want to share that with others.

My teaching methods are based on the student and what they are comfortable with. I like to create personal lesson structures based on their learning style: visual, auditory, kinaesthetic or reading/writing.
I am very dedicated when it comes to my students, I want them to know that there doesn't have to be perfection because there is always room for improvement. I extremely patient and I am a big listener and want my students to feel comfortable enough to ask questions and feel heard.
I have worked mostly with students from elementary school to high school but definitely open to working with all ages. Language is universal.
