About AJ

I am an A* chemistry student about to start my first year at Imperial College London. I previously tutored two fellow chemistry students and my college in the run-up to our A levels, and they then went on to both achieve a grade higher than their spring mock grades.

About the lesson

My lessons, mainly geared towards GCSE, AS and A level students, will be individually-tailored to target problem areas using research-backed techniques that also fit with the preferred style of learning. We will have a conversation about a chosen topic to identify any confusion surrounding it and then I'll use diagrams and logical explanations to fill the gap in your knowledge. Following this, we will walk through a relevant exam-style question and demonstrate effective methods that will gain maximum marks before giving a similar practice question to complete independently to further embed the theory. We'll then look over the question and add in missing information which may have been forgotten before finally showing my example answer, comparing and contrasting this to see what things may need to be worked on moving forward.

Unless a specific topic is causing trouble, I feel that it would generally be beneficial to cover the topics which were recently covered in class. This means that our work will further embed the topic into long-term memory, and classwork that may be causing any issues can be fixed before it has a domino effect into the rest of the chemistry studies.
