About Rida
My name is Rida Afseen and I graduated Year 12 in 2025 in Queensland with an ATAR of 95.5. I am currently studying medicine at the Central Queensland University. As someone who has experienced Year 11 and 12, I understand how stressful these last two years of schooling can be. As a result of that, I have a strong understanding and compassion towards these students and strive to make their QCE journey easier. I would like to teach chemistry as it was my strongest subject, on which I recieved a 98/100.

My lessons are for Year 12 chemistry students who aim to develop a better grasp of their content. Students can choose whether they want 1 or 2 hour sessions. However, since chemistry is a very content heavy subject, I personally recommend 2 hour lessons in order to solidify learning. I will finish off lessons with practice exam questions and provide some extra ones to do at home (optional). I have a large folder of exam-style questions that were provided to me from my school when I was in Year 12. Although external exams do not take place until the end of the year, starting to do practice questions now rather than later reduces some of the pressure during the external exams and helps consolidate learning.
When I introduce topics in our sessions, I will ask the students how well they understood it at school. If they understood the topic well, I may only need to discuss it briefly in class before I proceed to practice questions. I believe senior students reach out to tutors with the hope of understanding their subjects better. Therefore, in situations where a student did not understand certain concepts in class, I will ensure to explain it step by step and in detail. If a student has already understood a topic to a great extent at school, I believe that it is better to spend the lesson time doing exam-style questions.
Subsequently, some sessions will be spent on discussing assignments as well. When helping a student prepare for an assessment, I will prepare a timeline that indicates when certain sections should be done before the due dates. I will ask them to write specific portions, such as the rationale for a research investigation, and have them sent to me at least 2 days before our lesson. This would ensure I have enough time to prepare effective feedback, which I can discuss with the student during the lesson.
