About the lesson

I run hour-long maths sessions for students, where I focus on helping them deeply grasp topics through proof and example. I’ve found that once students truly understand the ideas behind mathematical formulae or concepts, their confidence grows much greater than if they’re just taught to answer questions.

I have previously tutored GCSE Maths, working with two students regularly and improving their respective working grades of 5 and 6 to two achieved grade 9s in their exams. I also previously tutored a student in A Level Maths, boosting their working grade from a C to A* in just 3 months.

I’m comfortable teaching all levels up to A level Further Maths. Additionally, I can tutor university admissions tests like the TMUA and MAT. Having scored 8.5 in the TMUA (top 5% in the world), I am capable of teaching techniques and approaches that help students excel in these exams.

Furthermore, I also run computing sessions, focusing on both theory and practical elements of the GCSE/A-Level curriculums. Having achieved top 100 in the country in AQA Computer Science A-Level, I have a deep knowledge of how to achieve top marks in the subject which I am willing to share, while continuing to develop students’ problem-solving skills, critical thinking and confidence in applying computational concepts.

I would definitely recommend!! James has been the best tutor i could’ve asked for! he helped me with areas I didn’t even realise I was bad at, and explained things I didn’t understand very clearly in a way that didn’t make me feel silly.

Since my lessons with him, my grades have improved from predicted c/b to a*!! thank you James :)
