About Bethany
I am a first year Sociology student at the University of York. I studied Sociology, English Language and History at A-Level and got A*A*A respectively. In my gap year between A-Levels and University, I tutored A-Level students in English Language and Sociology. One of these students had missed a whole paper's worth of content and I was able to teach her in detail the content and the essay structures needed for high marks. She told me that without my tutoring, she would not have got into the University she wanted to go to. I care a lot about the students I tutor and ensuring they get the outcomes they want as I was in their position once and know how important it is to see rewards for the effort you put in.

I like to take a hands-on, brainstorming approach when tutoring. It involves a lot of interaction and input from both sides, but by having an active conversation with me, students are able to challenge themselves and engage more in the content I teach them. This ultimately leads to high outcomes. I have tutored A-Level students before in English Language and Sociology, and these sessions would typically last around an hour. Within these, I would also provide highly marked examples of my own work to guide their essay writing skills. Additionally, I would read over their past essays and suggest changes I would make to improve their marks.
