About Robert

A professional writer myself, I am passionate about good writing. My goal is to help you produce the best possible final product-- but also make you more confident to write on your own based on the skills we work on together.

I love to help writers at any and every stage of the process, from defining a topic and creating an outline to writing clear, compelling sentences and paragraphs.

Whatever you need to write, I will be happy to help:

* High school and college writing assignments of all kinds

* Research papers

* College admissions essays

* Creative writing (especially fiction and personal essays)

* Cover letters and resumes, etc.

In addition to a BA with honors in English from Stanford University and an MA from the University of California-Irvine (UCI), I taught writing for two years at University of California—Irvine.

I have also written hundreds of articles and research papers, as well as a dozen travel guides, as a freelance writer.

About the lesson

First, we define the task at hand. What does the student need to write? Who is it for? What do they hope to accompllish

Then, we identify any blockers. What are the biggest challenges? Where does the student need the most support?

Then we get down to work together. I ask the student to share what they have done, and we define together the next steps and how I can be of help.

Details

I charge $40 per hour for live sessions. When reviewing writing before or between sessions, I charge $10 for the first double-spaced page (i.e. around 300 words) and $5 per page thereafter.
