About George
My name is George and I have experienced the ups and downs of education. I did very well at GCSE's , not as well as I could have done at A-Levels and extremely well at University.
Whilst this might seem strange to admit, it has shown me how important emotional regulation and managing perspective are when studying. Learning does not happen in isolation and my goal is to not only help you become more erudite but also wiser.
I have a First Class Honours Bsc in Psychology and a MSC in Cognitive Neuroscience. I have also worked as a research assistant in Russia, volunteered in Bangladesh and now work as an Assistant Psychologist in the NHS.
My day job involves me helping others with their mental health, thus I am familiar with the importance of developing a strong relationship. I also have experience teaching in Bangladesh and Russia, so you can be confident in my abilities to translate knowledge.

- My lessons are focused on using the approach of scaffolding, in which I help an individual progressively master the topic at hand. I do this by engaging in socratic dialectic whereby I ask student to question their assumptions and critique their reasoning. Teaching is not passive nor is it unilateral, I believe good teaching involves a dynamic which seeks parity.
- I am very laid back, curious and like to laugh.
- My teaching also aims to foster confidence in individuals as people generally.
- Emotional regulation skills such as mindfulness and cognitive reframing can be vital in helping an individual manage the stress of learning.
