About Anfaal

Having been a student who struggled in English and did not get the grades I ideally wanted, my English tutor was the figure who inspired me and pushed me to reach my personal goals. Not only did I learn to love the subject but also, I gradually learned how to write a good paragraph and structure my essays in a way which was concise, clear yet detailed.

Thus, I want to be the same figure for my students and be a guide for them so they can succeed not only in their studies and not feel stressed or overwhelmed.

I have the experience, skills and knowledge to do this and the fact that I'm fairly young allows me to build a good rapport with young students so they feel comfortable and confident around me.

About the lesson

My lessons are planned to build on each student's strengths and develop in areas which they can improve on. Ideally, I like to plan ahead and prepare each student on an upcoming text they will study or an exam they may have however, the student is in control of the lesson so whether they want to focus on a particular scene from Macbeth or focus on analysis paragraph for Frankenstein, I'm ready for anything!

Rather than lecturing for an hour, I like to challenge my students and have them engage in conversations to build not only their confidence but also, to make them feel empowered. Exam practice is essential thus, I will regularly make my students answer exam questions and go through their work or write a piece of analysis so they understand how to write effectively yet promptly in exam season. Practice makes perfect!

My students' success includes getting GDS in their year 6 SATS examinations, moving a GCSE student's grade from a D to a B and tutoring an A-level student who has a learning disability.

My lessons are typically for an hour however, during the exam period this may extend to an hour and a half to ensure learning, exam practice and discussions are successfully completed.

My studies from A-Level to university coupled with my semester abroad in Singapore, this has allowed me to read, analysis and expose myself to a range of literature and gain critical tips and skills, which I pass on to my students so they are able to succeed in a core subject which can be challenging.
