About Matt

I’m a PhD physicist specialising in theoretical particle physics, with extensive experience working with and explaining challenging mathematical and physical concepts.

I enjoy tutoring because I genuinely like helping students understand why physics works, rather than simply memorising formulas. My aim is to make difficult topics clear and approachable, while building the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems independently.

Whether you’re preparing for A-level exams or studying physics at university, I can tailor lessons to your current level and focus on the areas where you need the most support.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on building genuine understanding rather than simply memorising formulae. I break difficult topics down into clear, manageable steps and work through problems with you so that you understand both how to solve them and why the approach works.

Lessons can be tailored to your needs, whether you are preparing for A-level or university exams, working through difficult problem sets, catching up on a topic, or looking to strengthen your understanding of the fundamentals.

I can also adapt the depth of explanation to your level — from building confidence with core concepts at A-level to exploring more advanced mathematical and theoretical ideas at university.
