I like to have a prior knowledge of what the student is looking for and their level. What problems do you want to solve and what is your objective? Depending on that adjust the classes to your needs. I usually work giving theoretical classes and then solving doubts or creating exercises with more specific exercises. On the other hand, in the case of being prepared for a specific exam, work on that in depth: tricks, methods, mind maps, summaries, etc.
