About Kien
I’m Kien, a driven International Business student at the University of Canterbury with a pathway in Finance and a minor in Japanese. I hold strong language credentials—IELTS 7.5, JLPT N3, HSK Level 3 and HSKK Primary—but it’s my real‑world travels across Asia, Europe and New Zealand that have honed my cultural intelligence and ability to navigate diverse environments. As an Internationalization Assistant and a UC Tūhono mentor, I organize cross‑cultural activities that foster meaningful connections between domestic and international students. My consulting spirit was forged through back‑to‑back second‑place finishes in the UCom × PwC case competitions (2023 and 2024), where I led multidimensional teams tackling challenges in marketing, product development and operations. Outside academia, I’m passionate about luxury retail strategy—developing new product ideas for startups like Nailed It Nutrition and exploring export opportunities for Vietnamese rice noodles—always with the goal of blending global perspective with local insight. Ultimately, I aspire to leverage my language skills and cultural fluency in a consulting role here in Aotearoa, with the long‑term dream of serving as a diplomat bridging New Zealand and Vietnam.
