About Niki
I graduated with highest honours in Computer Science from Cornell University (College of Engineering). I am in the last year of my PhD in AI and Computer Vision at the University of Oxford (VGG). I have also completed 1 internship at SpaceX (the first summer of my undergraduate degree) and 2 internships at Amazon's Project Kuiper (the next 2 summers), securing return offers from both companies. I am now the Principal AI Consultant at my own consulting company, Ada Innovations LLC. I have published four first-author papers at computer vision and AI conferences and have more work under review. I am best known for my research on foundation models and open-world object counting in both images and videos. The AI models I develop can in theory detect and count any specified object automatically in images and videos, with applications to many diverse areas such as biodiversity monitoring and medicine. I enjoy teaching because I love understanding topics and concepts in depth and guiding students through this process. Learning AI can be very rewarding, especially when these ideas are applied to real-world problems, and I want to instil this excitement in my students. I also find watching students grow and succeed very fulfilling.

I provide lectures on AI and ML fundamentals, guide students through hands-on tutorials that show how to implement state-of-the-art ML research and apply AI models to real-world problems, and work with students to understand, discuss, and think critically about important research papers in these areas. I am also happy to support students in applying to undergraduate and PhD programmes as well as internships. I have extensive teaching and mentorship experience. I have been co-leading the Advanced Deep Learning PhD Course at Oxford for the last two years, was a teaching assistant for both the Computer Vision and the Big Data PhD courses at Oxford and was a teaching assistant in AI at Cornell (for both graduate and undergraduate students).
