About Elyse
Hello! I am a 28-year-old female from Manchester but currently living in London. I teach part-time whilst studying a postgraduate Master's in Textiles at the Royal College of Art - I love to draw and create! Prior to my personal study, I worked as a Secondary school teacher for 4 years delivering KS3, 4 and 5 Design and Technology and Art and Design curriculums. Although I specialise in creative subjects, I am particularly interested in writing; poems, stories, descriptions and research analysis. My other interests include: sudoku, reading, watching documentaries, and I must confess... memes! My teaching experience has been enhanced through cover supervisor work with Teaching Personnel (a teaching agency). This is now my current part-time role, where I am a supply teacher in London Primary schools, delivering mainly KS2 Maths and English. Through my experience, I have taught many different types of students of all ages, backgrounds, circumstances and abilities; an inclusive learning environment is very important to me and I love learning about students as individuals; their interests, beliefs, and experiences. As a teacher, I would describe myself as friendly, firm and fair; I would want you to take your sessions seriously, yet feel comfortable enough to ask questions, whilst of course enjoying your learning! I want to make sure any of my students meet their full potential by supporting them in ways which suit their individual needs. Elyse was a tutor at Explore Learning from July 2019 to November 2019. In this time she supported children in groups of 6 in achieving national curriculum attainments targets in maths and English by supporting them alongside a tailored learning programme called SuccessMaker. Elyse demonstrated a good ability to work with children by offering an approachable and energetic approach. With more time I feel that she could have developed her skills even further to be one of the best tutors in our centre.
