• 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  My interest in the English Language was inspired early by my passionate primary school English teachers. To impart valuable knowledge of the English language made me acquire degrees in English literature and Education. Using the academic training within my degrees enables me to tutor privately with focus on individual learner pace, and differentiation.

• 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I love teaching literacy ( reading comprehension, guided to independent writing skills - narrative, creative , imaginative, informative reports and persuasive, spelling and grammar rules)and literature analysis (TEEL from novel plots) persuasive poetic techniques and persuasive techniques within media articles.

• 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  Yes , an amazing literature role model from my Bachelor of Arts Degree.

• 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  Tutoring beyond subject knowledge with patience to comprehend learner point of view on concepts. So adaptability yet working within the target prompt. Student engagement approaches with encouragement of the positives while using clear reminders of better alternatives. Well prepared and organised classes that include interactive methods to help gain confidence and eliminate boredom.

• 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  An educational philosophy that remains close to my heart " it is not what you teach but how you teach it " is a guiding story for me every online class I teach.

• 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

  Helping students build confidence and overcome self-doubt( eliminating the fear of making a mistake in English) ,distractions with online mode ( more interactive engaging strategies)

• 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  The passion of literature. The various points of view with the different genres, the contention, tone and the lesson to take back home in our contemporary world.
  To put simply : to enter the minds of some of the greatest literary personalities ever.

• 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

  My confidence, my past , present and willing to learn future knowledge to bring out the best in every learner I meet. To pass on the valuable lesson that Education is the best investment every class while building self belief and self confidence from within.
