About Thievya
As a passionate tutor with a strong academic background, I bring years of experience and a deep understanding of the subjects I teach. Having studied Biology, Chemistry, and Maths at A level, and achieving an A* in both Maths and Further Maths at GCSE, I have a firm grasp of key concepts that allow me to break down complex topics in a way that’s easy for students to understand.
In addition to my studies in cardiac physiology, I have hands-on experience working with people day in and day out through my work with St John’s Ambulance. This experience has shaped my ability to communicate effectively, patiently support students, and instill confidence in their abilities.
I have been tutoring for over 5 years, and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy. Many of my students have successfully passed their 11+ exams, and I take pride in helping them achieve their academic goals. My lessons are aimed at KS2 English and Maths, and KS3 Maths, where I tailor each session to the student’s needs. I create a positive, engaging environment that builds both knowledge and confidence, ensuring every student feels supported and prepared for success.

In my tutoring sessions, I take a personalized approach tailored to each student's individual needs. The first lesson involves an initial assessment to gauge the student's current level, without requiring prior revision. This helps identify specific areas to focus on, whether it’s foundational understanding or question practice.
I employ a teaching methodology that breaks down complex topics into simple, digestible parts, using visual aids, real-world examples, and interactive exercises to keep students engaged. I encourage active participation and ensure that students fully grasp the material before moving on.
Each lesson typically lasts one hour, though I can adjust this based on the student’s needs. As a second-year university student in cardiac physiology with 5 years of tutoring experience, I have successfully helped students pass the 11+, achieving excellent results in both English and Maths.
My lessons are aimed at KS2 students for English and Maths, and KS3 students for Maths, where my experience lies. I create a supportive, encouraging environment to help students build confidence and reach their full potential.
