About Lenore

Spanish is a true passion of mine. I have been tutoring Spanish for several years. I have experience teaching children from 5th grade through AP Spanish level. Parents often remark about my can-do attitude, fun learning activities and positive results.

My first career was as a producer of how-to television. In that capacity, I was a teacher too, albeit for a much bigger class, including a live audience. I really enjoy using my skills to bring Spanish lessons to life and I am gratified by the "lightbulb" moments when children finally understand concepts that were once difficult for them; I remember having those epiphanies myself and that informs my teaching.

About the lesson

I really focus on being certain my students are clear about the why of the concepts they are learning and that they are firm on them before moving on. I also set aside time during each lesson to review the fundamentals. I work with students to come up with methods for learning the material and successfully showing what they know on exams, whether it's writing a conjugation chart at the start of each exam, or physically crossing out the stem of a verb and writing in the stem change, until it becomes second nature.
I keep a running list of the trickiest parts of each concept or the parts that mix people up the most and make a concerted effort to have my students have a good understanding of them. I also like to use music at times as a learning tool. For example, the "Bad Sentence" song about direct object pronouns set to Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" is an excellent way to remember what the direct objects are AND where they go in Spanish sentences.
