About MJ

Here at simple steps we focus on taking time to focus on the development of many aspects of life. From education to the arts, we provide tutoring and instruction to develop our students from all levels so that tye can leave confident, knowing they have acquired a new life skill.

We offer tutoring in public speaking, an array of school subjects and ballroom dancing.

With real world experience of sales and marketing, our public speaking instructor dives into the nitty gritty of public speaking and making an impression on those you are presenting to. He strives to make his students feel comfortable and even enjoy the opportunity to talk in fron of others.

With years of tutoring and college degree our tutor enjoys focusing on kids struggling to grasp basics and restructure them to help a child better understand them.

Our dance instructor has been dancing Ballroom for the past 3 years. He has both competed and taught to hone his skills. He enjoys the opportunity to see others fall in love with dancing as he did.

We enjoy this work because if you help one person better themself, then they are capable of helping better others just the same.

Public Speaking:

3 Years of sales and presentation experience in fronts of crowds from 50-500 people.

Tutoring:

2 Years of Experience tutoring High School and below in all subjects

Ballroom:

3 years of teaching and competiting.

About the lesson

First we understand where they are. Then we look at where they want to be. Finally, we develop a plan to help them get there and overcome any obstacles in the way.

Public Speaking and tutoring:

We have worked with people from 8 years old up until late 30's.

Ballroom:

I have worked with all ages from 6 years old to people in their 70's looking to improve their footwork.

The instructor MJ Nelson broke down the choreography to make the dances easier to learn. It was also fun and made me want to learn more dances!

During the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine, I had the amazing opportunity to take some dance classes online. This experience allowed me to continue honing my dance skills safely in my home. The instructor, MJ Nelson, was incredibly patient and thorough, making sure that there were no questions/confusion before advancing to the next dance steps/moves. MJ even went the extra mile by sending me (after class) a video of himself dancing the steps that I was struggling with during class. I highly recommend MJ Nelson for any dance instruction. He is very skilled, patient, encouraging, always positive, and just downright fun!

MJ was a fantastic instructor. He understood both the group's level and each individual's level of expertise and guided the lesson at the appropriate pace. Good mix of show, do, repeat and then also teaching others. I would recommend him across multiple styles of dance and a broad range of experience levels to instruct.
