About Armando

A classmate came to me for help with passing a Spanish test. He knew nothing about it, had a D in class and needed at least a C to pass the class. He ended up getting a B. The way I taught him was by identifying his problem areas and assuring him that Spanish is an imperfect language in terms of literal translation. i.e. Star Wars. Star Wars literal translation is Guerras De Las Estrellas, not Guerras De Las Galaxias. The reason why it is translated as Guerras De Las Galaxias is because it sounds better and short on the tongue.

I was born in Panama, thus, speaking Spanish is my native language. Though I was raised in Vacaville CA when I was 10 years old, I have not forgotten about my first tongue. I have an AA degree in Foreign Languages in Spanish from Solano Community College.

About the lesson

Start teaching everyone at a basic and elemental level. Knowing that not everyone's level of understanding is the same. Simplify lesson plans, emphasize fun above deadlines; exploring a new language should be as interactive and as freeing an experience as possible, mistakes happen, that's a good thing.

autistic, college and adults.

Often times cheap teachers don't teach well. Other times expensive teachers demand more than they teach and are frustrated when you don't understand their way. I will be the teacher between cheap and expensive BUT I will NOT demand or belittle you. I will interact with you as if you were my friend and we're going to my country for the first time. I will make it my mission to teach you how to either speak or write in Spanish or teach you how to conversate in Spanish.

Open mic poetry slam in Spanish at the Solano Community College library. I read my poem in Spanish and got complimented by a group of people for how well composed it was.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How understanding is their teacher? Will he or she actually listen to my question? Would it go in one ear and out the other?
