About Melissa

I've been a Middle School Spanish Teacher for 17 years now. I teach Level A and B which are basically introductory courses to the language and culture.

I knew I always wanted to be a teacher from an early age. It wasn't till I got to high school that I enjoyed learning a language. By the time I got to college the idea of possibly teaching a language became more realistic and was something that I pursued.

I grew up playing teacher and pretending to have my own class. I always enjoyed teaching younger ones. I don't know if it was the fact that I did a lot of babysitting or that my mother was a teacher which might have steered me down that path. From a young age I knew that's what I wanted to do.

I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a dual major in Spanish. I have a Master's Degree in Special Education and a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in School Administration.

About the lesson

Getting to know the student and find out what exactly they are expecting to get out of the tutoring. What are their goals which in turn will help me develop lessons.

Being a teacher in an inner city school district I have dealt with a broad range of students as well as abilities.

Don't be afraid to ask questions !

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What exactly are they hoping to get out of the tutoring. Are there specific topics they would like to cover or learn more about. It helps to have an agenda or goals of what you're trying to accomplish.
