About Triana

I'm a native Spanish Speaker who has both lived and studied in Mexico for many years. I like to teach and help others with their Spanish. I know learning a new language is a hassle and sometimes mandatory in school (which can be bothersome if you are not really interested), but I like to interact with young kids, highschoolers, or even adults to help them have a better grasp of the language.

I like to work with the homework that is given to the students and help them understand each excersive throughly. I know adults don't really have "homework", but I like assigning small videos to watch or sentence writting excersises for them to practice with me.

I like the idea of video chatting with my students so we can talk in spanish or english (at the beginning) and help them with any doubts they have at that moment.

I love the fact of helping others learn new languages. For some people this may be boring, but learning a new languages opens up new experiences and activities you can easily do; for example: traveling to Mexico with no tourist guide (that saves some extra cash), making natives believe that Spanish is your native language (so you probably don't get scammed by them), getting to watch soap operas, and more!

I am the oldest of seven siblings, and I became their spanish tutor for each one of them before I went of to college.

About the lesson

First, I like to know the reason why they are studying the language (if its mandatory beacuse of school or just a plain hobby); this will ease the teaching process and I can get an idea on how to make tutoring more fun for the students. Then, I like arraging two zoom calls (I'm free Tues-Weds) for an hour class, and if there is extra help needed we can scheadule one on the weekend. After that, we can analyze the level of spanish this student is on and we can start working right away

I have worked with kids from ages 7-10, highschoolers from ages 15-18, and a young adult who was 21 years old.

We teachers or tutors are here to give you the extra help that you need; don't be afraid to make mistakes with us or to ask questions. Feel free to be yourself and share your likes with us :). We are human too and of course we like learning about what you like of the area that you hope to get better at (even if you respond that you just want to get an A or that you are just doing this because your parents put you up to it).

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Ask yourself if you feel comfortable with your teacher; if you feel that a teacher is being mean or treating you poorly, please notify your parents or if you are of a legal age- don't be afraid to look for another tutor

Details

Yes, I charge for two sessions a week (an hour each) if an extra hour is needed then there will be a small fee added. If the student needs an extra class, I can offer another session on the weekends and charge for it as well (but please do notice me in advance). If the student doesn't attend a session without letting me know in advance, the session will be charged accordingly. If an emergency session is needed, I shall consult my schedule and get back to you; this too will have a certain fee, since it would be last minute for myself.
