About Marisa

My service stands out because I will develop creative and effective ways for students to learn. I will adapt to the needs of each student and provide an environment where they will feel comfortable and confident.

I enjoy teaching and helping students because I love to see students gain confidence in areas that they struggled in. I love to see students overcome challenges and progress.

I started volunteering in a toddler classroom when I was 12 and ever since I have developed new skills to help students learn. I have taught preschool students and developed lesson plans. I also worked at a summer day camp with older children. I nanny for a family with childern in elementary school and would help them with school work

I graduated from high school making the honor roll each quarter of each year. I have excelled in certain subjects and feel confident in my ability to help others understand those subjects. I have taught in preschool classrooms and developed lesson plans. I also took early childhood education courses and performed well in them. Currently I am a college student studying psychology and early childhood education.

About the lesson

When working with a new student I like to contact them prior to the initial tutoring session. I like to ask what the student needs help with so I can prepare in the most efficient way possible and develop a plan for the student. I also like to introduce myself to the student so they will feel comfortable when we start the session.

I have worked with students from PreK-6. Although I have the most experience working with students in this age range, I am very comfortable and confident that I can help older students learn in certain subjects.

I would advise a student to find a teacher/tutor that they can trust and that they feel comfortable with. It is also important that students do not feel judged so they can feel comfortable asking questions that they may have.

I recently moved into college and have been away from home for months. Last week I was able to see my grandma who I hadn't seen in a while. She came to campus and it was great spending time with her!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about the subject they are struggling with and what they need help with. The more specific the student is, the more a tutor can help and develop plans for the student!

I like to discuss with the student/parent about pricing. I think that everyone who needs tutoring or help in school should be able to receive that help. Therefore I am very flexible and will work to accomodate needs.
