I just completed my associate's level pre-nursing college degree. I am in the midst of applying to Bachelor's programs for my BSN. I have approx. 70 college credits. I have tutored students from my classes, and they saw great improvement.

The first meeting is about meeting the student and making a physical list of their weaknesses and strengths in the subject area they need help with. This also allows the student to see that they have strengths, and can build on their weaknesses. Tutoring takes time, and a plan is developed in writing as to what goals will be worked on each week. Practice throughout the week is encouraged, and I like to send out encouraging reminders throughout the week. Encouragement and breaking problems area down to the root are the core of my practice.
