About Teresa

Hello! My name is Teresa McCann. I have been teaching Spanish for over 20 years. I am a professor of Spanish at a community college and have been teaching at the college level since 2005. I teach all levels (beginning to advanced, including history and culture). I have developed new courses as well as been on the advisory board in the creation of a new textbook with Pearson (Mosaicos 6th edition). I work with students of all ages from all backgrounds (including international). I am well versed in teaching both face-to-face and online. I am familiar with numerous course management systems (Blackboard, Canvas, D2L) as well as the systems offered with the foreign language textbooks (My Spanish Lab).

I love working with students and helping them master the material! It gives me a lot of joy to see when I am able to help students learn and understand concepts that they have had difficulty understanding. I have had the opportunity to grow while continuing to master my craft.

I have two Master's Degrees. I have a Master's of Arts in Spanish and a Master's of Arts in Teaching Languages with an emphasis in Spanish. I have an online teaching certificate and over 20 years experience.

About the lesson

I like to see what the student is looking for help with. It may range from checking homework, describing a concept to practice speaking/comprehension. Once I determine how the student needs help, we can proceed in accomplishing the student's goals.

All ages - from children to adult.

Meet with the instructor first. See if you mesh with the tutor. Be prepared to work hard to learn the material. If you are looking to master the content, be prepared to work daily.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Why do I need help? Am I spending enough time on the material? Do I ask questions when I don't understand?
