About Maria

Hola!

As a native Spanish speaker I can help you achieve your goals.

I’m from Buenos Aires, Argentina, a country were proper Spanish is spoken (very similar to Spain). The accent is different, but we have a strong European influence (Italy and Spain), so dialects are not part of our culture.

Even though I teach grammar, the best way to learn a language is through conversation. Also reading and watching movies. That’s where I focus on mostly.

I have a flexible schedule during the weekends 👍🏻

I will be more than happy to help you learn this beautiful language.

Gracias!

I started tutoring 15 years ago, helping children with their honework as a side job. Also people from different countries who wanted to learn Spanish as they were going to travel to Spain or Latin America.

About the lesson

I like to know my student's goals first. Based on their needs I create a personalized lesson for them, which includes: conversations, pronunciation, grammar, homework, reading, Watching movies, listening to music.
I truly believe that if you make the class fun, the student tends to feel more relaxed and comfortable when it comes to learn and speak the language. At the end of each week the student has an verbal and written test.

Children, teenagers, and adults. Some of them wanted to improve their grammar, while others just wanted to have regular conversations to become more fluent.

Everything is possible if you're constant and if there's a will. Forget about the word "NO", or this affirmation: "I'm terrible with languages". I've heard that a lot. It's a process; as everything else in life you have to put some effort, and I'm here to help you to go through that process.

I'm a humanitarian type of person. I'm a City Harvast volunteer.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What am I looking for? Do I want to learn just basic Spanish? Do I want to become more fluent? What's the easier way for me to learn a new language? Through writing, reading, talking?

Maria is a great tutor! She has helped my 5 year old go from only speaking a few words in Spanish to complete sentences! She thoughtfully plans his lessons and has taken the time to get to know his likes and dislikes. She has a lot of patience and my son enjoys her lessons. He has a lot of confidence speaking and I am sure that he will succeed in his Dual Language Immersion kindergarten class this year because of his tutoring sessions with her.
