Certified Educational Specialist
As a skilled and enthusiastic Reading Specialist with 30 years of experience, I truly enjoy educating students to overcome reading and writing difficulties. My expertise and passion for teaching allow me to significantly assist a student in the area of reading and language arts.
My expertise lies in assessing a student’s ability, selecting appropriate teaching materials, and working patiently across a wide range of reading abilities. Throughout my career, I have honed my communication, creativity, and motivational skills to spark self-confidence and a love of reading in my pupils. I am certified in Special Education/Elementary Education/ and Orton-Gillingham.
Emphasis in multi-sensory reading: Tutoring all readers with an emphasis on dyslexia using the Orton Gillingham philosophy. I possess a Classroom Educator certification from Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Wilson Reading System trained. Over 30 years of teaching experience in one of the top performing schools in New Jersey Public Schools. Highly Effective Evaluations (Danielson Framework) consistently on annual reviews.
I have taught 1:1, small group, and large class settings instructing students as well as presenting professional development to colleagues. I have expensive experience teaching remotely utilizing Google Classroom. From the Institute for Multisensory Education, I hold IMSE COMPREHENSIVE ORTON-GILLINGHAM CERTIFICATION. Additionally, through the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators, I am certified as a classroom educator. Plus, I am trained on the Wilson Reading System. Furthermore, I instructed the resource center in reading, writing, math, social studies, and science - providing students with a multi-sensory education.
My vast knowledge on assessment techniques permits me to analyze a student's ability to tailor lessons to the individual. With significant experience developing and implementing comprehensive lesson plans, I am highly skilled in accommodating the specific level of the learner. Lessons are also enhanced through the integration of technology using Google Classroom, Calendar, and Drive.

I always new I wanted to teach and started my career directly after graduating college.
Thirty years of teaching experience in grade Kindergarden to 6th grade. I possess a BS and ED.M in Special Education/Elementary Education and Reading.
