Education is powerful, and 1:1 learning experiences help us grow.
I am a certified multi-grade, elementary school teacher passionate about powerful, inquiry-based learning. I am also a high school and college writing tutor, specifically for college and scholarship application essays.
I believe that students excel most when supported with accessible tools, strategies, and skills that allow them to problem solve effectively and efficiently.
Literacy is the root of student's understanding of our world, and students learn best when given opportunities and read and experience language in their community.
Data-driven instruction is necessary to identify and active student's strengths in an effort to develop all areas of knowledge and understanding.
Student's choice is essential for true engagement, and I strive to make each student's voice heard in their tutoring instruction.
My experience with elementary school students is diverse. While studying Elementary Education at Westfield State in MA, I worked as a classroom teacher with students ranging from grades 2 to 5th, including my full year placement as a 5th-grade student teacher. During this time I also worked as a 1:1 tutor for students in math and literacy.
After graduating as salutatorian and with the highest GPA in the Elementary Education program at Westfield, I went to teach Science in San Francisco. Here, I taught in an outdoor classroom with students grades PreK-5th. Our work in our outdoor classroom was focused on science, math, and community development.
Currently, I work as a tutor with multiple students in the Denver area. I feel passionate about tutoring because it gives me the space to work 1:1 with students, targeting their immediate needs and goals. I feel confident that my background as a teacher and my passion for 1:1 instruction will help your student master and exceed their grade level skills in all elementary subjects.
I also work with The Scholarship System, where I tutor and coach students in the application writing process for colleges and scholarships. I support students in writing strong essays, editing their work, and creating stand-out resumes.
I look forward to using hands-on, engaging learning activities to support my students in achieving their academic goals!
I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was 6 years old. My own elementary school teachers inspired me to seek out work opportunities where I could support and learn with my students. I feel passionate about education and excited for the opportunity to bring engaging learning opportunities to all students.

Developing a deep understanding of my new student's prior knowledge is key in reaching their academic goals. During our first session, I focus our work in both conversation and assessment. My goals in this first session are to hear from the student regarding their interests, strengths, and ideas. I also will work with the student to complete some activities that establish a baseline.
If working with high school and college writers, I appreciate the opportunity to connect and learn more about my student's past experiences. This 1:1 time is key to helping support writing detailed application essays.
If working with young students, I also look to speak with their parent or caregiver to hear more about their strengths, struggles, and prior experiences.
