About Tanner

Hello all!

My name is Tanner, I've been living in Bullhead City, AZ for a little over a year now and would love to give back to the education community here. I'm currently attending Universirty of Nevada, Las Vegas and will attain my BA in Psychology with a minor in Sociology in spring 2021.

I don't have any formal experience with tutoring, but I've been helping my younger sibiling for years with their educational pursuits. In additon to this I have always been the go to guy for friends and family when it comes to both grammar/spelling checks and general evaluation of content in papers.

I currently have a 3.52 cummultive GPA at UNLV. In addition to this I have a psychology GPA of 3.25, a sociology GPA of 3.33 an English/language arts GPA of 3.5, a math GPA of 3.0, a philosophy GPA of 3.75. But I'm not limited to just these subjects! I've taken and excelled in classes related to counseling, history/political science, communicaitons, film studies, etc. I can best be described as a jack of most trades.

I have a passion for being a part of the learning process and would love to help students tap into their potential for any and all classes I can help with.

I am not currently teaching, but once I get my degree I will teach while going to graduate school.

I have taken a good handful of classes dedicated to the learning process in students ranging from preschool to college age. These classes include but are not limited to lifespan development and educational psychology.

About the lesson

I would try to figure out the strengths and weaknesses a student currently possess in the subject at hand and what they struggle with specificlally. Something unique to how I try to teach people is to put the subject matter and terms into a way that applies to the student and their interests. I would also be interested to know what works and doesn't work for an individual (flashcards don't work the same for everyone!).

Look for someone who seems fun, but you will be able to learn from. Sometimes the most qualified person may not be a good fit for you, but the new educator will be.

Details

I charge $20 per hour for non social science subjects, and $25 per hour for social science subjects (psychology, sociology, philosophy). There is a minimum of one hour every session.
