About Michael

I am intimately familiar with the technical aspects of photography, and have been doing photography for over 40 years.

I have an Academy award and an Emmy for optical devices I invented for the motion picture and television industries.

What I have learned, is that photography doesn't have to be expensive. The best camera is the one you are carrying. You can spend money on it, and one day there will be justification for buying the best gear, but that day does not have to be today.

I love teaching, helping people get past thought barriers and learning the essence of what they need.

I have been helping out people at my work for a decade now, written articles for electronics and photography magazines, and love helping people.

40 years as a photographer, 30 years of designing optical systems and cameras

About the lesson

Discuss their needs and deficits and devevelop a work plan that gets them what they need as quickly as possible.

Understanding how technical vs how much of an artist you are is crucial to helping you through the details of operating a camera.

people from kid to adult, mostly those lacking technical knowledge.

There are a lot of aspects to photography.
Technical stuff is for the most part immutable. There are things you do and do not do to get what you want.

The creative stuff is "mushy" there are tried and true rules, and then there is technique.

Winning an academy award is pretty cool.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
You should know what your goals are.

Are you lacking in technical knowledge?

Are you just starting and don't know what you don't know?

Are you "stuck" and looking for ideas?
