About Nicole

Having encountered the world through my lens, I have captured a diverse cross-section of people, cultures, and landscapes. My camera has been witness to indigenous tribes in Panama, the Big Five on the Serengeti, silverback gorillas in Rwanda, and the hills of Tuscany. After 25 years, I resigned from my executive career and am now a full-time photographer and travel writer exploring continents and countries documenting my experiences. Wishing to share my photography on a more personal level, I created Gratitude Photos in addition to She Goes With Gratitude (a travel site and community for women who dare to soul seek rather than sightsee). Through these lessons, you will gain experience from a seasoned photographer who has traveled the world shooting a variety of subjects and landscapes.

I founded She Goes With Gratitude, a travel site and community for women who dare to soul seek rather than sightsee. My goal is to inspire them to travel the world with confidence, nourish their soul, and grow with gratitude. Over the years, I've photographed around the globe, but I'm a NYC girl at heart. I am passionate about living my best life—authentically and unapologetically. After 25 years in the corporate and nonprofit worlds, I tossed the map I thought I needed and chose to resign from my executive career. I am now pursuing my passions full-time which allows me to live a life beyond my wildest dreams. I capture the most beautiful, painful, blissful, and inspiring moments on Earth, and through my photography, we can all live beyond the moment.

We only have one life to live. As Steve Jobs said, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.”

For years, people have been complimenting my work, always fascinated by how I was able to capture the most perfect moments, the best wildlife shots, and have the most well-composed photos. After a recent shoot, a parent remarked that she couldn't believe how beautiful the images came out when all she saw was chaos because her boys were running around for an hour. It's a gift to see the shot before it happens or patiently wait for just the right moment to click the shutter button. I'm passionate about photography and decided to share my gift.

An autodidact, I learned the art through practice while traveling the world.

About the lesson

Creating synergy to realize the same vision is important to me. First, discover the why - why are they learning photography, and how will they use the art form in the future. My approach is flexible so I can provide a different skill set to those who want to hang in a gallery vs. take cool photos for social media. I teach the basics of the camera and how/why to use each function; the rest comes naturally during practice. We'll then set the course to learn focusing, lighting, using your eye to find the shot, seeing the world through a photographer's lens every day (whether or not with a camera in hand), capture the right photo, and editing.

Most students are through private lessons, beginners and a few on the intermediate level.

Find someone with practical experience. It's one thing to teach a subject, but it's another to be out in the world photographing lions, breathtaking landscapes, laughing children, and loving engaged couples.

Review their work and ask yourself a few questions: Do you do feel connected to their photos? Do their photos tell a story? Do they compel you to ask the artist, "Wow, where was that taken?" or "How did you get that close to the gorilla?" or "How did you make it appear as if the sun was shining on her face?"

I photographed opening night of the Clio Art Fair in Chelsea (NYC) this past fall. The Art Fair hosts artists from all over the world, has extensive international press coverage, and thousands of visitors over the course of a few days. Opening night was well-attended and there was a great vibe in the room, one unique to the art scene in NYC. I loved chatting with the artists and finding ways to have them exhale and enjoy the present moment. In all the excitement of a big event, people sometimes forget that -- and that energy and feeling comes right through in the photo. I will be returning on March 5th, 2020 to photograph their spring opening reception.

8-wk course, classes are once a wk, 2 hr classes, 6 pp max. $550 ($150 to hold a spot)

Private lessons, 1:1 only,6-8 classes generally but flexible. $90/hr
