About Herb

We are service oriented and very knowledgable on photography. I have a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Alabama and a Bachelor of Arts from Brooks Institute of Photography both in Commercial Photography. My career started as a staff photographer for NASA 30 years ago. The majority of my business is high school related. Basically photos that go into their yearbook. I have been working with schools for over 25 years.

Photography is my passion and I would like to share what i know. I have a studio which I can teach studio lighting, portraiture and posing. If still life is something you would like to learn, I can teach that as well. My website is (concealed information) and I look forward to hearing from you. Herb

I love being able to create memories for my clients and I enjoy creating moments in time for me. Road trips is one of my favorite things to do so my camera always comes with me.

I have given lessons to local high schools and helped with teaching a class while in school Also, I have mentored for photo workshops.

I have a Bachelors of Science from the University of North Alabama and a Bachelors of Art from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. Both are commercial photography degrees.

About the lesson

I prefer to talk on the phone first to see what level you are and what goals you want to achieve. Then we set up a time to do a class lesson. Afterwards, I will assign homework and then we will schedule a time to work together with your camera in hand.

I work mostly with beginners and some more advanced students who wanted to learn more about lighting.

Perfect! Herb has years of practical experience doing many different types of photography. We have had two lessons and the best thing I have experienced thus far is how Herb actually listens to what I am saying about my understanding of our lessons. He then adjusts how he communicates with me so that I can absorb the concept he is teaching. To have an instructor who listens and who has the ability to adjust what he is saying to help me better comprehend is golden.

Perfect! Herb is very knowledgeable and most importantly, is very patient with beginners like myself. I've only taken 2 classes from him but after the 2nd class I felt more comfortable with the camera and it's functions - which are many!!! I have a long ways to go but intend to stick with Herb until I'm confident with my understanding of things 100%. would highly recommend him for those wanting a 1 on 1 learning experience.
