About John

I began my photographic career when in High School as a yearbook photographer. Bringing my skills to the University of South Florida I became the personal photographer for the vice president of student affairs, photographing all student activities as well as developing a slide presentation for incoming freshman orientation.

I took a hiatus for several years to begin a family.

In 1993 Photo Concepts was formed, specializing in group, event and youth sports, the company soon became one of the largest of its type in Central Florida. I was named one of the top ten photographers in Central Florida 5 years in a row. While building Photo Concepts I was enhancing his stock and travel photography. During this time I was fortunate enough to study under Galen Rowell, which helped define my vision.

When digital capture was in its early yearsin I jumped aboard learning the skills necessary to make the conversion to the new media.

Proficient in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Lightroom, InDesign, Illustrator, and Adobe Muse, has allow me to utilize technology to create images that are out of the ordinary and web sites which are ascetically pleasing, easy to navigate and quick to load.

Selling Photo Concepts and starting Northwest Photographix, was done so I could relocate my business to the Pacific Northwest. Having moved to Portland, Oregon in August of 2009, I have brought his unique skills to Oregon.

I enjoy the visionary process of creating an image, and enjoying the outcome of my vision.

Being a life long photographer I look forward to sharing my knowledge with those who truly wish to learn how to beccome better photographeres throught camera capture to post processing.

I am a live long photographer and have taken many classes with professionals in photography. As part of the digital skill set I have taken classes online to learn the necessary skills. Also I am a member of OPPA, a professional organization in Portland that is there to help professional photograhers enhance their skill set. Lastly I am a long time member of Kelby One, the premier photograhy learning platform on the web.

About the lesson

I am very communicative and will first have a phone conversation with the new/prospective student to determine if we are a good fit, and my skill set will help them reach their goals.
