About Felix

As a retired Naval Combat Photographer I've had the privilege of teaching many young sailors how to photograph and document our Naval history. I've taken that training and teaching experience and applied it to other aspects of my life that I really enjoy. Golf, firearms and photography are a few of my many passions.

One of my greatest satisfactions as a person is teaching another individual something they want to learn and having the experience to thoroughly do so. Watching an individual in the beginning with little to no knowledge and then developing their skills and knowledge to a point where they can take it to a higher level I think is one of the greatest contributions you can give to o community.

As I mentioned before spending 25 years in the United States Navy I transition from me recruit to an operator and eventually to an instructor and mentor. I've learned a lot about myself and the many young adults I've had the opportunity to train. However, as an instructorI am constantly learning myself not only in the subject matters I teach but in techniques of teaching.

My basic approach is to find out what the students goals and aspirations are in regarding the lessons they are looking for. Then I discuss a game plan that they feel will directly impact their wants and needs. From that point I begin my homework and develop a training plan that I hope will be informative and challenging for the students.

I have worked with prior military people who never had the opportunity to use firearms. And, I have also instructed women and children on basic firearm safety and operation.

Perfect! Just recently I started classes with Felix. I am very happy with the process and the information I have received, he goes to the point and has an ability for explaining photography concepts very easy. I am also grateful because he is very accommodating (and with a 6 month old, flexibility is a must).

I love the way he explains things and breaks them down, using analogies to help me better understand difficult concepts. He is very thorough and explains not only the how, but the why. He is very knowledgeable, and I always leave a lesson having learned so many new things. He is also very easy to communicate with and very understanding when I don't pick something up very quickly. He takes the time to explain things in different ways if I'm not understanding something. I am so glad to have Felix as my photography mentor as these lessons are making me a better photographer. Felix was prompt when scheduled meetings. During training sessions Felix was very patient with us, as we hadn’t seriously played golf before. Felix was knowledgeable and personable. We enjoyed our sessions tremendously!!

Felix has aa informed and subtle approach to explaining the various aspects of how to safely handle, shoot, and store a firearm. This type of training can come with a great deal of anxiety and he has just the right personality and experience level to keep the training enjoyable.
