About Parham

I am an experienced, professional photographer and a frequent presenter and workshop facilitator at area photography clubs. I am the owner of Photo ShareShops which conducts photography workshops in unique places like Carter Caves and Reelfoot lake. I shoot food and nature/wildlife professionally and have clients like Kentucky State Parks and UberEats.

I have taught classes to the public for clients such as Ky State Parks and the UK Arboretum.

I am very patient with "newbies" and with my extensive experience in conducting classes, know how to explain things in an easy to understand and retain way.

To me, teaching is an extension of my artistic bent. Seeing others expand and create with what I have helped them learn is just so exhilarating and rewarding to me. I have had amazing mentors and teachers and hope that I can live up to those, as I do so enjoy seeing others "take off" and create amazing things.

I've taught one thing or another most all of my 60+ years. From highly technical software my companies wrote, to very basic photography skills.

About the lesson

Evaluate their current knowledge of photography
Learn their intent as to the type of photography they want to do
Start with basics and work to the details

Mostly adults, but some young adults. I plan on teaching more young adults through a program in Lexington next summer.

First, know what you want to accomplish.
Second, find a teacher that is most concerned about that.
Third, find a teacher that makes it fun, memorable, and easy to understand (Photography is technology now days... teachers MUST be able to distill that to easily understood concepts.)

Special Olympics. I have taken pictures there for the kids to get two years now, and it is so very rewarding.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What types of photography do I want to do?
What, in the way of time and effort, am I wanting/willing to invest?
Am I willing to accept a bit of frustration to accomplish my goals? (You'll have to)
Do I understand that photography is less about technology and equipment and more about the artistry? Cameras are simply tools like a paint brush.
Do I understand that like any endeavor, practice is what makes perfection?
