About Mike

I have been involved in photography since the early 90s when I majored in journalism with an emphasis in photography in college. I started my own business in 2008 photographing weddings and currently focus on real estate, interiors and architecture. For a more creative outlet, I also shoot nature and city life images as well.

I get to do something I enjoy almost every day. Currently I am mentoring two other photographers interested in real estate photography and giving back as a mentor is very rewarding.

I learned photography as journalism major in college (my emphasis was in photojournalism). Along the way I have taken online courses relating to wedding photography, interiors and architecture, and landscape photography.

About the lesson

The first thing I need to do is ask questions about what prior knowledge and experience they have in photography. The second step is to ask them what specifically they want to learn (equipment, composition, editing, specific type of photography, etc).

Look for someone who assesses your current level and past experience in photography so they can tailor lessons to fit your exact needs.

Perfect! Mike is very detailed and not only instructs but listens well. I would have very much liked a class with other students but being that there are none in the area, I'm glad I found a good teacher to get me started.

Perfect! I would recommend Mike to a friend and I would hire him again. He is a very knowledgeable photographer and a patient teacher. He answered my posting for photography lessons within minutes.

He tutored me over the phone because we live in different states. Though I was skeptical, it worked fine.

He was able to explain things on my level in an understandable way. He answered my questions and gave me suggestions on what to do to improve.

His fee is reasonable. I would make a list of issues and questions to have in front of you to be sure you cover everything during the time you have allotted.

I charge $50 per hour of instruction. I find 30 minutes to usually not be enough time unless we are only covering one topic.
