About Ziadelyn
Zazia Educational Team has worked since 2013 with many private schedulings ranging from elementary school to high school learners and including individuals undergoing their undergraduate studies (i.e., college and 4-year university). We aim to consistently prepare and coach the learner to excel in whatever subject they are pursuing, and are passionate about ensuring that students both
Fully understand the material they are working with, and
Feel confident in their ability to continue learning about a particular subject(s).
We accomplish this by taking a culturally-responsive approach to learning and sharing a work-ethic of determination and perseverance with our learners. This means that when working with folks, we understand that I need to know them as a whole person in order to best suit their specific educational needs. This may mean being flexible with a learner's work life, using online platforms to help work around travel or tight schedules, navigating around family commitments, or even knowing whether students have eaten or not. The point is, the learner must come first. It is also crucial to practice and model as an educator that hard work and determination are crucial components to making sure that learners are completing their work and maintaining a growth mindset.
My name is Zia; since 2013, I have worked as a tutor across several learning levels. Currently, I have two Bachelor's of the Arts in Psychology and Spiritual Anthropology and I am fluent in English and Spanish. I've had extensive experience in working with youth of many ages, ranging from elementary to collegiate scholars; the subjects we've worked in vary almost as extensively, whether that means working together to practice our handwriting, studying the skeletal system or writing an essay on developmental psychology. You see, people can be infinitely unique, but the variety of subjects which they learn is typically more finite. I also say "we" consistently when I talk about this tutoring team because I feel it is important for learners (and their families) to know that any tutoring must be a TEAM effort— that they will always have the support that they need in order to excel.
I would more than delighted to answer any further questions you may have about me. Feel free to reach out either via email or by phone/text number (see below). I can't wait to start learning with you!

I got started teaching initially by accident, and then very purposefully. It began with a job as a teaching assistant to a high school anatomy teacher in 2013 until I started guiding the work into more individualized student tutoring around the different anatomy units. I did this for approximately two years with high school students while I also worked with the Boys and Girls' Club, helping deliver teaching on a much more personable level and with a much younger population. Over time, I started reaching out directly to families in my community and working with them individually to help their children and then eventually with collegiate scholars with more complex subjects. It is still one of my favorite things to help people (of all ages) reach their "aha!" moment.
I have two Bachelor's of the Arts; one is in Psychology and the latter is in Spiritual Anthropology. I have best explained my studies as centered around deeply understanding people; this is inclusive of both the minute details and behaviors of a person and of that person's contributions to society, communities, and institutions. This understanding of people ties directly to my professional experiences as an inclusion coordinator, research assistant, residential resource, and of course, tutor/educator. These positions have helped me refine my versatility, detail-orientation, critical thinking, patience, and empathy— all making me the best choice for your learning needs.

I prefer to start all sessions or learning series in 2 sections: the first section will be either newly completing or reviewing a pre-completed inventory based on their work/school/family schedule so that I can gain a clearer understanding of how I can best help. The second section would dive into starting to break down the subject they need support with so that I can also gain a clearer picture of how they currently work through problems, study, and approach material. This first session as a whole is very crucial so that for the following session, I can bring more individualized tools and approaches to tackling their subject.
Interesting question! There are many answers to this, since "people can be infinitely unique" (see my About page). First, we can approach age: I've worked with children as young as toddlers (3-4y.o.) and as old as non-traditional college students can be (25+y.o.). I am versatile with folks in either of those categories and anything in between to make sure that I can best assist them in their learning. Secondly, we can talk about identity: I've worked with folks from all different backgrounds, cultures, and who are at different points in their life (i.e., special needs, recent life changes, tumultuous situations, etc.). At any rate, I feel it is absolutely necessary to take an all-encompassing, culturally-responsive approach to any learner.
A few things:
1. Make sure you feel comfortable with your educator. Can they change or adjust their approach in anything to make you more ready/willing to learn? Are they equally prepared to teach you? Do they demonstrate a willingness to work with you? Do they respect your boundaries? If not, maybe consider another individual who has a more all-encompassing approach.
2. Are they/do they make themselves accessible to you? How good are they at communication? Can you re-schedule when necessary? Do they work around your availability and busy life? As an educator, I feel we must always put the learner's needs first (even if that means scheduling around them and not me). If your educator doesn't do this, you should find someone who does.
3. Are you learning with them? Do they help you track your progress over time? Do you feel confident in continuing to approach and work with the material after/outside of your learning sessions? It's important that you can use your educator (e.g., me) as support, and not just a robot or answer key. If your educator isn't educating you and preparing you to succeed on your own, are they really helping?
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. How flexible is the teacher as a resource? Will they be able to provide any constructive efforts for you outside of direct classtimes/typical business hours? It is important that if the teacher can also work with us as a team to give learners extra support (practice worksheets, helpful books, etc.) to take it since they will best know what the curriculum will be like and we can all be on the same page. If the teacher cannot support outside of class (for any reason), make sure to ask any clarification about the syllabus/course guide ahead of time so we can walk through that together and come up with an action plan to improve in any necessary areas.
2. How fast is the curriculum? How much information from this year will build on material for next year? After that? Spend your time wisely so we can make sure we're learning every session. If we're going to make sure you can excel in the material, we need to go big-picture.

I don't like employing flat rates for sessions because I don't feel that may encompass each learner's needs, family, and/or lifestyle. I do, however, work flexibly with each learner to make sure that we both get the most use out of our time together. Typically, we will first take your specific session needs into consideration— how long? how frequently? on what subject(s)?— and create a personalized, fair pricing system. I will always ask what/how you feel comfortable paying (i.e., hourly amount, weekly amount, etc.) and then proceed from there to come up with a comprehensive payment plan. This way, we can ensure we're both winning.
