About Joni

My name is Joni Deardorff. I am certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a personal trainer as well as a Specialist in both Weight Loss and Corrective Exercise. I started my career as a boot camp coach in 2013.

While working at LA Fitness from 2014-2015, I gained experience and knowledge about how to get results for my clients. I spent a very long time being overweight and it is now my passion to help others with weight issues. My certification in Corrective Exercise taught me how to train clients with prior or current injuries and muscle imbalances. I offer in-home personal training as well as Group Fitness Classes within 10 miles of Frisco, TX, including Plano, Allen, McKinney, Prosper, North Dallas, and Addison, TX.

Both services are also available at a studio in downtown Frisco, TX, and at an outdoor location in Frisco, TX on Hillcrest Road. I can also meet you at your local park, apartment/neighborhood/corporate gym, as well as any other gym that allows outside trainers.

I am now booking sessions Monday through Friday from 5:00am to 3:00pm. You can purchase classes or sessions on this website as well as schedule your appointment. Please contact me with any questions!

My bachelors degree is in education. I know how to explain things so people can understand. Personal Training is a science. I have to be able to explain my reasons for doing things so that you understand why I'm making the decision I'm making. I started a career in fitness because I know how bad it sucks to look in the mirror and hate what you see, that panic, notknowing where to start, the depression, that horrible bitch in your head saying nasty things to you. I want you to feel like you're not alone, and help you take the first step and be with you on you journey, one baby step at a time.

i an a certified personal trainer, a certified Specialist in Weight Loss, Performance Enhancement (helping athletes increase their performance in training), and Corrective Exercise (dealing with injuries, muscle imbalances, working with physical therapists, aches and pains, and strengthening areas that are weak and cause pain). Those Specializations are very difficult to pass, and I am extremely proud of them. I was also recently accepted into the Master Trainer Program through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I had to apply to this program, they only accept 50 trainers annually in the WORLD. I began the class this week and if I complete it successfully, I will attend a live Summit in Phoenix at the end of March. If I pass it, I will have one of the most prestigious certifications in the fitness world out there. I am beyond excited about this opportunity.

The first session with a new client consists of a comprehensive diet consultation and fitness assessment that helps me create a plan that is designed specifically for you, your goals, and what you want to accomplish. Every person is different and unique and wonderful! It's is ok to be where you are! Taking the first step is the most important thing and you should be so proud of yourself! Building on those little baby steps helps me help you begin a fitness journey that ultimately creates a lifestyle change that is realistic an maintainable! And we will have some serious fun getting there!

Ages 15-73. Rehab clients. Seriously obese clients. Teenagers preparing for college. Ladies going through a divor to look badass for their awful husband. Husbands and wives wanting to lose weight so they don't pass along their bad habits to their 5 year old daughter. 73 year old men having trouble just getting out of a chair. Teenage boys wanting to make the football team. 50 year old women going to Vegas needing to lose 20 lbs in a month for their much younger boyfriend's 40th birthday bash (yes I have some tricks up my sleeve), I've done it all. I'm nerdy and sciency about fitness, and I can get shit done if you do what I tell you to. 😉

Hire someone who doesn't hear you, but listens with open ears, can put them self in your shoes. Empathy is a very powerful thing. If they can't understand you, they are not the trainer for you. A guy hired me once, raved about me and how much he loved me after interviewing several trainers. He was recently divorced, and I asked him what was so awful about the other trainers. He told me that the male trainers he talked to immediately said, "oh, so you wanna get buff for the ladies now that you're divorced?! 😉😉"  um, no. Thanks, drive through. They weren't hearing him. So pick a trainer who is HEARING YOU!!!

I have had a crazy 5 minutes months. Literally. I had shoulder surgery, my dad had a stroke, I havec2 special needs sons that were really struggling, I was very ill, my dad had open heart surgery, my hot water heater exploded, I mean it was one thing after another. I lost 2 clients. Life happens. My clients understood. But they needed someone really consistent. One client I called right before Christmas and just let her know that my life had calmed down, I had loved working with her, and would love to work with her again. I wished her a Merry Christmas. She said OH MY GOSH IM SO GLAD YOU CALLED!!! I HATE MY NEW TRAINER!!!!! Please come back!!! She was way out of shape. So she hired me back in the new year. I was hurt that she had left, though I understood. I am deeply committed to my clients. I don't have to work. My husband is very successful. I work because I love it, I do it to give back to people who may find themselves in the situation I was in when I was 206 lbs. so the fact that she hired me back validated me, made me feel like I am where I should be.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Dont be afraid to be vulnerable. Clients cry all the time with me. I'm part therapist a lot! I'm ok with listening and talking to you. Especially if your overweight, some type of pain has caused that, and figuring out what that is and working through it is part of the battle. If you working through your pain makes your trainer uncomfortable, that might not be the trainer for you. Breaking down your body is hard. Tears often come. Your trainer needs to be ok and supportive of that.

i am an in-home trainer. I own my own equipment. If it fits in my car, I own it. So my pricing factors in my time driving to homes, purchasing my equipment, and time spent between clients. If you go to a gym like Lifetime, an hour-long session will cost you $100 easily. My programs are designed for you, I can't say the same for big box gyms. I charge $80 per 50-minute session. I offer a premium service. I don't guarantee results because I can't guarantee that you will do your part, but my plan works. I was overweight for a long time. I know what I'm doing.
