About Raquel

I have taught for 25 years. My specialty is beginning reading. I trained teachers in Reading but just retired. I have taught from K to college level but would like to focus on K-3. Beginning Reading and Math in English or Spanish. I have done afterschool tutoring for most of my 25 years. I am a certificated Teacher.

Being able to see a child's face when they first realize that they can read and write is amazing.

I got my teaching credential and subed one day and got hired the next day.

I am a reading Specialist. Trained in Reading Recovery and trained teachers. I also worked with children as I trained teachers. Taught for 25 years in K to University.

Did afterschool tutoring for over 20 years in Beginning Reading, Math, Writing, Phonics, and other subjects. Right now I would like to concentrate in K-3.

About the lesson

I will need the specific area that the students needs. I use the white board quite a bit so that I can see what the students needs. I'll test and observe to see where they are at.

All types, After the first week, I will tell you if I am able to help you child.

The teacher needs to be patient and know what she is teaching.

When some of my parents still call so that I can talk to my ex students.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Just be honest and let them know what you are having trouble with.

I charge $30.00 for 45 minutes. These minutes are intensive sometimes if the student needs more time we might do back to back. If they need 2 subject areas, they need a break before we do another session.
