About Ann

I LOVE teaching. I enjoy it so much that I tutor during the summer to keep at it. I have grades Pre-K through 4th. I just finished my 22 year teaching. I have taught in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas. My husbands job has relocated us a time or two. I was a district teacher of the year in Ponca City, Oklahoma. I like to come to your house that way your child is in a comfortable environment already and we can get to work right away.

I love working with kids. When I see the 'ah ha' moment, I know I am doing what I was meant to do. I get excited when the student begins to show confidence in a concept that they struggle with.

I knew from childhood that I wanted to teach. I would line up my stuffed animals and teach them.

I have a degree in Early Childhood Education with an emphasis in Fine Arts and Humanities.

About the lesson

First and foremost, I build a relationship. While building that relationship, I learn about the child's likes and dislikes. I find out how they feel about learning and how they think they learn the best. I discover where their weaknesses and strengths are.

I have worked with students that love school to students that hate school. I have worked with students that have learning disibilities and behavior issues.

Find a teacher that you feel comfortable with. Once you decide to receive help, set aside time for tutoring.

I had a student that was struggling in all subjects. I could see him getting frustrated and starting to shut down. I worked on getting him some accommodations that helped him experience success. I saw a change in his attitude and effort. He actually began to be successful in other areas.

Think about what you feel is your toughest and easiest subjects and why. Think about how you like to learn what kinds of activities do you like. What are you wanting to accomplish?

Details

I charge $35 an hour for one child. If they have more than one child, each additional child is $30 an hour.
