About Lyndsay

My name is Lyndsay Ealey and I am the founder of Yours In Education. Yours In Education is an independent education company, started during the pandemic, to help elementary students who are struggling. My mission is to motivate, inspire, and engage each of my students. I believe that student engagement, creative lesson planning, and a focus on the whole child are the keys to educational success. With 22 years of classroom experience, and experience in special education and ESL instruction, I know we can work together to help your child succeed! About the lesson

Working with new students is the start of an exciting journey! Our process will begin with introductions so we can get to know each other. Working with someone one-on-one is the start of a new relationship, so I want to know all your likes, how you learn best, and your thoughts and feelings about your learning experience so far. We will then begin some quick assessments. This can be in any area of need - math, reading, writing, spelling/word study, or even phonics. I want to be sure we are focusing on the areas you need the most help in, so that we can maximize our time together. The last step of our first meeting is to set goals, as a group with the student, their family and myself. This should be a team decision, so everyone knows what we want to accomplish, how, and by when. I then ask students to consider these goals during our first few weeks, and to let me know of any changes they feel need to be made.

I would say that if you begin with a teacher, and the relationship doesn't feel right, keep looking for a teacher you connect with and who makes you feel motivated. In teaching, especially with children, it's all about establishing a positive relationship with open communication!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what your goals are, what you want to get out of tutoring, and what you want your session time to look like. I think it's also important to think about how your learn best, what challenges you face in school, and what concerns or anxieties you have. Many of my students flourish after establishing that connection with me and realizing they can communicate anything to me without judgement.
