About Julia
Before recently moving to NE Iowa, I was a math teacher in the Des Moines area. Although I am now staying home with my toddler, I still have a passion to help students with math through tutoring. I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, ELL Math (elementary-level math and up), and more! Although a majority of my years were spent in public school, my final year in Des Moines was spent teaching at a Christian school. I love helping students make connections between math and the Bible - math is such a unique and beautiful way to get to know God!
So many students develop anxiety and a lack of confidence towards math early on in their education. My goal is to always help students see that anyone can be a "math person" and for their confidence in themselves to increase. I love incorporating engaging strategies as much as possible.
My education background includes a double major in math education and business education from UNI. I then received my masters degree from Drake.
