About Katelyn
I am a licensed public school teacher who loves to make learning FUN with games and learning activities targeted towards little minds and bodies. Struggling students often have shorter attention spans and wiggly bodies, which my high energy and creative nature are a perfect match for! I will work with your student to discover their specific learning needs in math, reading, or writing and will create many types of activities and skill builders for our time together. I miss my students and classroom during the summer, so tutoring is the perfect way to keep flexing my 'teacher brain!'
I feel fortunate to have the best job in the world. A teacher is how I would describe who I am, not what I do. I have always known that this was the job for me!
I have been a K-2 public school teacher for five years and have additionally tutored students outside of typical school day for three of those five years. I have a B.A. from St. Olaf College and a Master's Degree in Education from Hamline University.

As your student and I get to know each other, I will identify areas of strength and weakness using a series of basic skills assessments during our initial meeting. From there we'll look at where they fall on the continuum compared to the current grade-level expectation and we'll set a goal for the end of our time together.
I've primarily worked with students in classrooms ranging from pre-k to second grade.

Details
My instructional rate is $50/hr. I find that by varying the practice skills and instructional activity, most students benefit more fully from a full hour of academic work than a shorter period with transitions.
