About Jackie
I have been a middle school Science and Math teacher the past six years. I did my student teaching in Italy, and then moved on to a Language Learning classroom. I have a masters in Special Education which allows me to work closely with students and really analyze the areas where growth is needed. The past few years I have worked with all types of students, and understand that not all students learn the same. I also have a Bachelors of Science with a focus in STEM, which allows me to teach students the big picture of what they are learning and apply it to real life skills.
Being a teacher at the middle school level, I understand that communication is key for not only the students, but the parents. I will make sure to keep the parents updated with progress, but also teach the student to become accountable for their own growth so they learn to monitor their own progress and skills. I believe students should feel accountable and proud of the work they accomplish, and this is a skill that often needs to be taught.
I make sure to get to know my students in order to form positive relationships where they know it is alright to ask for help. I am comfortable in areas of math and science from 2nd grade to 9th grade. I can not wait to work with you!
I am a middle school teacher and have worked in special education the last 6 years. I focus in math and science, and have worked in other rooms with overload positions. Each day I am working with children to help them establish their own goals and show growth.

When working with a new student I will first make sure we evaluate what the needs are for that students and what area of focus our goal is. If possible I will request assessment scores. If needed I will conduct my own to see areas where growth is needed. During this time it is also important to establish a relationship with the child to see what interests they have.
