About Jennifer
Hello, I am a licensed educator who attended and graduated in 2017 from Holy Family University's accredited Early Childhood Education program. I have three years of experience in working with students at the Pre-kindergarten to Fourth grade level. I enjoy teaching in the classroom and I understand that during these difficult times, students can't always have the one-on-one access to educational support that is needed and required in order to do well so I would like to offer my services by tutoring. My passion lies in reading and writing and I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for these subjects. I have written and taught standardized testing prep lesson plans in the third grade level to help my students be better prepared for the reading and writing sections of the P.S.S.A.s. I also have a love for taking Math lessons and making them into more relatable scenarios for my students as this helps to make the lessons more interesting. I hope to get the chance to aid your child in their studies as well as better help them understand the content and material given by their teachers and school.
I truly love being able to create a safe space for my students to enjoy the material they are learning. I understand that at times, it seems the class is moving a bit too quickly for a student to really get a grasp on the knowledge being given and thus the student cannot become invested or interested in the material. This creates a gap between what is being taught and what is being learned. We all prefer learning something that interests and engages us. I also enjoy knowing when my students have suddenly clicked with what I am trying to teach them. It is a rewarding feeling that truly helps me keep teaching each day.
I began to teach after realizing I have a knack for working with children and I find true enjoyment in passing on my knowledge. I was able to begin teaching while in my Early Childhood Education program at my University. I have taught lessons in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and third grade. I have also taken jobs as a substitute teacher and in that capacity, I have gone beyond the usual worksheets to try and give my students a deeper understanding of the lesson at hand in as little as one day.
I am a certified graduate from Holy Family University. I graduated from the Early Childhood Education program and I have approximately 3 years of experience in working with students. I have written daily, and weekly lesson plans. I believe in the Information Processing Theory(IPT) and thus I plan my lessons around it. I also practice a form of guided teaching/learning. While I do teach my material, my approach is to ask leading questions that help my students reach the desired knowledge rather than to present/lecture at all times.
