About Laura
Hi my name is Laura and I have three years of experience in education. I am a certified teacher in Colorado, and recently wrapped up the school year teaching some pretty awesome fifth graders. I have worked with small groups of student struggling with mathematics, and have led book clubs in the classroom. I have a strong background in psychology, and also have experience in an early childhood education setting. Additionally, I have enjoyed being a running coach/counselor for 3 years to elementary and middle school students.
I look forward to supporting your student academically. I am always searching for fun and engaging ways for students to interact with their learning materials. Making connections between the student's life, and what they need to learn is extremely helpful. Additionally, providing students with tools and strategies using research based teaching methods, will help them continue to be successful academically. Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions!
I enjoy teaching, because it combines my interest of psychology and education into one. I am able to use my skills learned in both of these areas to help students reach their potential. In addition, my strong background in psychology allows me to be aware of unique social emotional needs that students might have.

When working with a new student, I prefer to meet for approximately 15 minutes through Google Meet or an alternative online platform. During this time, I will gain an understanding of what specific tutoring the student is looking for, and learn about them as an individual, ie. interests/hobbies. Building a trusting relationship with students is crucial to their success.
I have taught and adapted lessons for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Accelerated Learning Plans (ALPs). In addition, I have developed engaging lessons catered to student interests. This helped them take initiative of their learning, and grow academically.
