About Jace

I consistently create engaging and individualized sessions. I do this by using activities that scaffold information and tie together multiple learning styles to increase retention. In addition to working with specific course content, I help students build their study skills to promote better overall school performance.

I have held a wide range of tutoring and teaching position over the past 6 years. These opportunities have given me experience working with prekindergarten, elementary school, middle school, high school, and undergraduate students. I specialize in English language arts, reading skills/comprehension, educational coaching, and art, but I can also help with general education (including math and science) for elementary and younger.

I've always been drawn towards teaching and tutoring because I love helping others. I believe every student has the ability to excel, but not all students have access to the resources they need to succeed. Being able to help bridge that gap is satisfying to me because a quality education builds the foundation for a better future.

Every student I work with is different, so I enjoy being able to adapt session plans to capture their attention. Interest is a HUGE factor in a student's ability to learn. People are naturally curious and want to seek out new information, but when we're struggling too much, learning isn't fun anymore. I love being able to help rekindle that passion for learning by teaching students better ways to take control of their own education.

I graduated with my BA in English Literature from the University of North Texas. I have also completed and passed all coursework and related testing for the TEXES 7-12 English teaching certification.

When working with a new student, I first talk to the parents or caregiver to identify what the student seems to be struggling with and to explain how I plan to help the student over the course of our sessions. It is important to make sure everyone involved is on the same page before any sessions start.

I spend the first session learning more about the student and helping them become acquainted with how the sessions will work. This first session helps me see the student's interest and engagement, which helps me plan a personalized approach that will be the most beneficial to the individual.ย
