About John

I am incredibly excited to help people who are working toward their goal score on the LSAT! I took the test in 2020 and scored a 178, and I would greatly enjoy sharing what I learned in the process.

While doing my undergrad at Harvard, I tutored introductory micro/macro economics for two years, and I love to help students develop a generalizable set of tools to apply to difficult questions and topics. I also debated competitively for six years, during which time I developed note-taking and outlining techniques that I found to be very helpful on the analytical/logical reasoning sections of the test.

I love to work with motivated and inquisitive students to develop processes that they can use on any problem they are facing. I prefer this method to teaching how to solve specific problems becuase I have found it to be more fun for students (and as an instructor) as well as more helpful for when students have to be evaluated without a tutor present.

Tutoring in college.

I tutored introductory economics for two years.

I have four years of classroom experience through a volunteer organization that teaches about policy debate in Boston.

I spent four months studying for the LSAT and took it in 2020.

About the lesson

I try to guide students toward materials that they can use as a diagnostic tool to see where they stand relative to the material (e.g. a practice section of a test or better yet an entire practice test).

From there, I like to review the questions that students got wrong with them in order to gauge what content they need the most work on and personalize lessons going forward.

Middle school, high school, and college students.

I would look for teachers that can empathize with you. If they cannot understand why you are struggling with the material you find difficult, they probably will not be of much help.

It was recently proven that some fungi can 'eat' charcoal.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
-how much time the student needs versus how much time the teacher has

-what kind of activities the student will find helpful versus what kind of activites the teachers will suggest

-how much of their difficulty with the content could be solved using google (or duckduckgo if they love data privacy)

Details

I charge $80/hour for sessions, which can be scheduled for any length of time between 30 minutes and 2.5 hrs.

I am willing to meet for free for up to 30 minutes before being hired to make sure the fit works.
