About Jessica
Hello! Thank you for considering my tutoring services. I have always had a passion for education, but it has not always come easily, which is why I feel convicted to help others.
I graduated with a bachelors degree in K-6 education and later recieved my masters in instructional technology. After two years teaching elementary grades, I wanted to give middle grades a try...and I fell in love. I became certified to teach science and social studies for middle grades.
The part of this job that I enjoy most is seeing results! I love seeing a student evolve and adapt. Hard work pays off and I really love knowing that I played a part in their future.
I orginally didn't go to school to teach, but thought I'd give one education course a try. I fell in love with the creative thinking process involved and seeing students achieve that which they thought they never could.
I have a bachelor's degree and certification in k-6 education along with a master's degree in instructional technology. I am also certified in secondary science and social studies. This will be my seventh year teaching. I taught first grade in my first year, fourth grade in my second and have been teaching science and social studies for eighth graders for the last five years.

I like to get to know my students, of course, and find out what their likes and dislikes are. I normally give a small quiz to determine what learning style they prefer. Getting the whole picture helps me meet their needs.
With seven years of experience I've worked with some amazing students. I've helped several with learning disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy, severe immune deficiencies, academically gifted and a couple who were from Spanish speaking countries but were not proficient in Spanish or English.
I recently had my students do a science lab and provided the materials and instructions, but that was it, I didn't guide them through step by step. It forced them to problem solve, work together and question things. I was very proud at the outcome. Students were creating new ways of carrying out the lab and were becoming confident scientists in the process!
